Where has the Discover button gone on TikTok?
TikTok released an update in May 2022 that replaced the Discover tab at the bottom with a new Friends tab.
The Friends section allows you to view posts from your friends, including all the users that you follow. It also displays videos from suggested accounts that you might find interesting.
Due to this change, the Discover section is no longer available for many users on TikTok, but there is a way to bring it back with a neat little trick.
How to fix Discover tab missing in TikTok
1. Sign out of your account
Although the Discover tab has been replaced by the “Friends” tab in TikTok, you might be glad to know that there is a way to get it back again.
The trick is to log out of your TikTok account and use the app as a guest.
When you sign out and use TikTok without an account, the app displays the Discover button and you should be able to use the feature again.
2. Create a new account
If the method above does not work for you, then you can try creating a new account.
TikTok seems to show the Discover button for some accounts which makes me believe that they are currently beta testing the new Friends. As such, if you create a new account, chances are that the account may have access to the old Discover section.
Here’s how to create a new account on TikTok:
- Go to your profile and tap on the menu icon.
- Select Settings and privacy.
- Scroll down and tap on Log out.
- Now go back to the Profile tab and TikTok will prompt you to create an account.
- Create a new account and check if the Discover button is present for your account.
3. Access the Discover section from TikTok’s website
Fortunately, the Discover page is still available on TikTok’s website.
To access it, open a web browser and navigate to www.tiktok.com/discover.
Once you go to that page, you should be able to see all the trending hashtags, videos, and accounts.
