Discord is one of the most popular messaging apps where you’ll find servers dedicated to a variety of topics ranging from gaming to cryptocurrency and trading servers.
By default, Discord comes with a Light and Dark theme. The light theme features a plain white background whereas the dark theme changes the background to dark gray. You can switch between these two themes from the app’s settings which we’ll show later in this guide.

How to Change the Background in Discord?
1. Open Discord and click the gear icon at the bottom of the sidebar to open the app’s settings.

Here’s how you can use a custom theme in Discord using BetterDiscord:
1. Download the BetterDiscord app from the official website. It is compatible with both Windows and macOS.
2. Double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation process. On the Choose an Action step, select Install BetterDiscord.
3. Next, it prompts you to select your Discord version. Choose the version that’s installed on your computer and click Install.
4. The installation will now begin and once completed, Discord will launch automatically and display BetterDiscord’s changelog. This is an indication that the plugin has been installed successfully.
You now have to download a theme to apply to Discord. To do so, go back to BetterDiscord’s website and head to the Themes page. Here you’ll find a collection of ready-made themes that are available for download. Find your favorite theme and click the Download button.
